The 26

90,676 scored outs are in the record. Exactly 26 ever reached 48 points — one in every 3,487 trips, spread across just eight bulls in a quarter century. Seven of the eight became World Champions.

On this site we treat 45 points as the elite line — the top 4% of all recorded trips. But the scale doesn't stop there, and the air gets thin fast. Of 90,676 scored outs in the record, 902 reached 46. 198 reached 47. And exactly 26 — one in every 3,487 trips, about one per season — ever touched 48.

Here is every one of them.

The complete set of 48+ bull scores in the recorded data, highest first. The Hall tracks this list live.

Eight bulls. Seven champions.

The 26 outs belong to just eight bulls — and seven of the eight went on to win at least one World Champion Bull title: Dillinger, Little Yellow Jacket, Cripple Creek Promiseland, Chicken on a Chain, Bushwacker, Woopaa, and Man Hater. A 48 isn't just a great night. Historically, it's been close to a prophecy.

The one exception is Red Demon, whose 48.50 in Arlington came in May 2024 — and he's still bucking. If the pattern holds, his page is worth watching.

Dillinger owns the list

Ten of the 26 — more than the rest of the sport combined until 2011 — belong to Dillinger, all recorded across 2000 and 2001, the two seasons he won back-to-back titles. No bull before or since has visited 48 so routinely that it almost reads as his baseline. And the modern bookend: Man Hater put up four 48+ trips in 2024 alone, including the two highest bull scores in the entire record — 49.50 and 49.25, three weeks apart.

The four men who stayed on

Twenty-two of the 26 ended with the bull winning. Four times in a quarter century, a rider made the whistle on a 48-point trip — and because a ride score is half the bull's doing, these are the highest-scored rides in the record: Jose Vitor Leme's 98.75 on Woopaa in Las Vegas and 97.75 on him in Tulsa, both in 2021; Cassio Dias's 98.25 on Man Hater's 49.25 in Fort Worth; and Michael Gaffney's 96.50 on Little Yellow Jacket back in 2004. When the best trip ever bucked meets a rider who survives it, the scoreboard makes history on both ends at once.

The ceiling doesn't inflate

League-wide scoring has drifted upward over the decades — Score Inflation charts it season by season, and 45s are more common now than ever. But the 48s tell a different story: they span 2000 to 2024 almost evenly, decades apart, with long droughts between (not a single one from April 2013 to July 2021). Whatever generosity has crept into the middle of the scale, the top of it has stayed sacred. Forty-eight still means what it meant twenty-five years ago: one of the best trips anyone has ever seen.
